Waste Management Worker

The Community Building Administration offers creative discussions, a fast-paced environment, solution-focused working methods, and gives you the opportunity to drive and participate in changing community building processes. We are a collaborative administration between Hällefors, Lindesberg, Ljusnarsberg, and Nora municipalities with a broad mandate within the municipalities' community building processes.

The administration consists of two main areas of operation: technical operations, and building and environment.

The administration develops the community, and the Waste and Recycling Unit has a broad mandate including strategic waste planning, waste collection, and receiving waste at our staffed recycling centers in each municipality. The focus of the operation is to work with waste prevention measures and sustainable waste management. The department currently consists of 20 dedicated and experienced employees.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of waste management worker, you will, together with your colleagues, manage customer reception at the recycling center by informing and assisting individuals and businesses in sorting their waste. Tasks such as sorting hazardous waste, cleaning the area, and checking fill levels of various fractions are also included in the work. Additionally, operating a wheel loader and sorting will be part of your daily routine as a waste management worker. Some administrative tasks are also included in the position.

Working hours are according to a schedule, Monday to Saturday, with both evening and weekend work occurring. The work is primarily conducted outdoors at our recycling centers. The position is based at the Södra Måle recycling center in Lindesberg municipality, but work at other locations may occur as we have recycling centers in four municipalities.

QUALIFICATIONS

To thrive in the role of waste management worker, it is important that you can work in a planned and structured manner, have a sense of order, and possess a pedagogical approach with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Being able to take initiative and having good customer service skills are of utmost importance. You should enjoy working in an outdoor environment and be able to handle a sometimes physically demanding job. You are comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with colleagues. A flexible mindset will be helpful as the work area covers half of Örebro County.

We are looking for someone who has at least a high school education and has previously worked in a service profession with customer contacts. If you have previously worked in the industry and are interested in environmental issues, we consider that an advantage for the position.

A valid driver's license (B) and access to a personal vehicle, as well as a C2 driver's license for goods handling, are required. If you have training in ADR 1:3, Asbestos, it is considered a plus for the position. Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form is important, and other language skills beyond Swedish are an advantage.
